... are you morally obliged to have read Ulysses?

Personally, I think if you're *human* you ought to have read Ulysses, but those of us who live in Dublin have a particular obligation to the book, in my opinion. I love walking around the city and being reminded of particular episodes of the book in particular places. I just wish it was possible to actually read those brass plaques on the ground without being trampled.

Anyway: if you live in Dublin, and you haven't got to the end of Ulysses, why not?

Cause it ain't my kind of thing. Too many books that actually attract me to want to.

So the whole greatest-thing-what-ever-was-written-ever label doesn't affect you, or even make you curious?

No. I started reading it one day, my sister started muttering about how it wouldn't be my thing and I found myself reading anything else but it and figured that there were books I really wanted to read in my pile of books to read and that life was too short to make myself do something unpleasant.

I've read enough dogs, I really don't need too keep trying to give time to the stuff that doesn't attract me, I do enough of that with my bookclub occasionally.

#1 "Personally, I think if you're *human* you ought to have read Ulysses." You're joking, aren't you? Or drank too much beer!!

Ulysses is a great book but is difficult to read.
