Worst chick lit book ever!

Not to be a downer, but I was wondering what "chick lit" books everyone has read -- and wants to now tell everyone to avoid?

Personally, I didn't enjoy Sophie Kinsella's Remember Me? -- and I know I'm probably in the minority on that one! It just wasn't that interesting to me -- it felt oddly formulaic, and none of the characters endeared me in any way.

The worst "chick lit" book I have ever read - and I am a fan of the genre - has to be Jacqueline deMontravel's The Fabulous Emily Briggs. The title character is definitely not fabulous. She's only mildly interesting and not very likable. And while one does not necessarily expect stellar writing in "chick lit", this goes beyond bad. The author must have known someone in the publishing world because this book is a stinker. I finished it out of sheer determination and was thrilled when it was over!

I'm also reading Remember Me? right now and I don't like it very much either. It's not the worst I've ever read but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The characters are not likable at all and the story is kind of "bland". For me chick lit is supposed to be fun - and this one is just not!

I also did not like Remember Me. I like Can you keep a Secret much better. I just finished Chasing Harry Winston which I would highly NOT recommend. Not the worst ever but geez, far from fun, or funny, and isn't that the point of chick lit?

The Shopaholic series in general is kind of awful. It's just... the main character is so deeply unlikeable that I just can't read them at all.

I recently read two by Meg Cabot. After disliking the first one (Boy Meets Girl), I thought I should give her a second chance. No luck, She Went All the Way was even worse.

Jumping on the band wagon for Remember Me? And I know it always gets said, so it is my turn to say I guess:

I abhor the phrase "Chick Lit" with a passion.
