Hi everyone-

I apologize for this late invite, but things have been busy of late and it slipped my mind.

In the Green Dragon Group, some of the members in this corner of the world have agreed to meet this Saturday (August 23rd) for an afternoon of hanging out at the Book Barn in Niantic. Of course, you members of the Connecticut Nutmeggers group are all invited too, because this is more about getting local LTers together than just the Green Dragon folks.

I, myself, recently joined Green Dragon and one thing I can say is that there is a whole lot of talk that goes on there. For example, the decision process to decide where and when to meet is still ongoing at over 220 messages (grin).

So far there are about 8-10 people who are going to meet first at 11:00 am at the Shack Restaurant for lunch. It's just down the road from the Book Barn.

After lunch, we'll caravan over to the Book Barn (different link from the one above) to buy books and regather at one of the picnic tables to do show/tell of our purchases and to get to know each other a bit better.

Please, if you can make it, it would be wonderful. Let me know here so that we can have an estimate for the table at the Shack.

The Book Barn annual sale is January 30 through Feb. 7. Anyone interested in heading down?

Oh, thanks for this info. It will all depend on family events and weather for me, Sandy.
I'd love to go.

I was just there on Saturday (couldn't wait two more weeks). I plan to go back during the sale, though. Anyone care to join me? Which day would be good. We (all?) could do brunch somewhere, like last time.

Well, I do believe that I'm going down this Saturday (February 6th, 2010), if only to buy Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow for my youngest son, who has never read them.

Let me know if you want to do brunch or, on the other hand, just show up and maybe we'll find one another, somehow. If you can't make it, when I'm done I'll find some bar and hoist a cold, straight Manhattan to all of you Nutmegger Book-Lovers.

Well, after all, I didn't make it down to the Book Barn today. I'm assuming no one else from this club did either.

Yeah, sorry Doug. I meant to come back in here to post that I wouldn't be making the trip.

Me too. 'Best laid plans of mice and men. This is like the 3rd year I've missed it. My first year, I left with a huge smile on my face and armloads of wonderful classics, from each of the 2 stores.

But my library is massive. I was way too busy on the weekends and I had the self-control to realize I've plenty of books. Next year!
