I have just completed reading Pilgrim The Greatest Crusade by James Jackson which I can't praise enough.
For a start,it seems to me that there aren't all that many books about at the moment dealing with this particular period in history.
Set in 1212,the book tells of the (so called) Children's Crusade and of the terrible hardships and deprivations that thousands of young people went through on their long journey to Jerusalem.
It is a really thrilling tale with a great villain and various groups of evil doers,including the 'Assassins' and 'the leper knights'.
