Well, despite a family reunion weekend, I started America, America: A Novel by Ethan Canin and literally could not put it down. It is a remarkable book of American politics, social class identity and family relationships. Not brilliant, but striking. well worth reading, particularly if you remember the 1970s, the remembrances of Edward Kennedy, remember Ed Muskie crying, and appreciate northeastern identity politics. Well worth your money and time.

I owe you another "thank you!"
I sampled AMERICA, AMERICA and have just moved it up on my list. I lived in Boston during the "Kennedy years" and I know I'll draw a lot of parallels from this book, bearing in mind that it is a work of fiction.
Keep the recommendations coming, Tasidog.
