Miramax is giving us 25 copies of the book, so people can read it and get excited about the movie. Is anyone here planning on seeing Brideshead Revisted when it comes out?

(see the blog post about the giveaway, and request your copy in the latest batch of Early Reviewer books)

Not sure. Admittedly it was the preview for the movie that spurred me to purchase a copy of the book and read it (I'd always meant to...you know the drill). The gorgeousness of the writing certainly will lend itself to creating a sumtuous to look at film, that's for sure, but I wonder if a director can help close the distance I feel from the characters.

I'm more excited about the Liss since I have come to love that period of history (American Revolution) and really enjoyed The Coffee Trader when I read it a few years back.

It doesn't seem that long since the BBC did their version with Jeremy Irons. I must be getting old.

>3 varielle: - that came out in 1981 (not a BBC production though, made by ITV). How do they plan to cover the same ground in 135 mins? (By contrast the mini-series was over 10 hrs).

I am going to soundly bah humbug this movie. I saw the trailer and was pretty unhappy. It doesn't look like they are going to do even a half way decent job of adapting Brideshead to screen. It seems like they are simply going to gloss over most of what makes Brideshead so enjoyable - if simply for time restriction reasons.
