I've just finished tearing through most of the Rumpole stories and novels by John Mortimer. Great summer reading--quick and hilarious. There's more than a little Wolfe in Rumpole.

Is that the same as Rumpole of the Bailey? The TV show? My MIL loved that show and is known in our family as, "She who must be obeyed".

It is the same. Mortimer has written scads of Rumpole stories, and just when you think Horace is going to retire, Mortimer writes a new one!
