Looks pretty well done in the trailer. I haven't read the story, but the movie looks very interesting. I like most of David Fincher's previous work. Any thoughts/comments on this film?

I'm really intrigued by this. I love David Fincher and it sounds interesting.
I haven't read the story either.

I'm the opposite; I read the story and haven't seen the movie. I also liked the look of the trailer. After reading the story I was convinced the movie couldn't do it properly (i also think something in the trailer made me think that it did not follow the story cloesly).
Did anyone else read the story and get the same impression I did? Has anybody read the story and seen the movie and can tell us what they thought?

I have read the story and watched the movie. I think they are both heartwarming . They are distinguishable from one another because a big change in the story was done, the only similarity is that the Benjamin Button reverses in age when it comes physical appearance as he grows old.
I agreed with LanaE about the movie not doing it properly, but only in the part where the lead character was born. In the short story , Button was born physically an old man and standing 5'8'' tall, while in the movie, he was born very small but with a physical appearance of an old man. Kinda of weird because he goes back to the same size when he dies of old age as a baby.
The short story discusses Button's relationships with his father and his son, while the movie is purely a love story between Button and his girl.
