Prohibition and Russian History for a 10-year-old?

Hello,
I have recently learned that my young (age 10) nephew wants books on both Prohibition and Russian History. I can find plenty of material about both, but not necessarily for his age range. He is reading at his age/grade level, so if it's a slightly harder read it should be fine.
Any suggestions would be very helpful!

Would Bootleg: Murder, Moonshine, and the Lawless Years of Prohibition work? I haven't read it, but it seems highly regarded.

I did a tagmash of "Russian history" and "children's books" and found a couple that might work:

The Apartment: A Century of Russian History, by Alexandra Litvina
Russia and her neighbors (Oxford children's reference library), by Lovett Fielding Edwards
Peter the Great, by Diane Stanley (though this might be a bit young for him)

>2 vwinsloe: That looks like something I’d like to see too.

My daughter did a Social Studies fair project on Prohibition a couple of decades ago. I introduced her to Time-Life history sets. She was blown away by how reader friendly they were - “Why can’t our history text books be like this?”

She relied heavily on The Fabulous Century 1920-1930
It might be hard to find now, and is possibly a bit too advanced for your nephew at his age.
But I treasure my daughter’s enthusiastic experience reading it.

>4 2wonderY: It turns out the library I work at has a copy of The Fabulous Century 1920-1930! The images are great, but the text is just a bit much for him at his age. I will definitely keep it in mind as he gets older though! Thanks for the suggestion!

>2 vwinsloe: I managed to find a site that let me read parts of the first two chapters in previews, and it looks like even though it's mainly meant for ages 12-18, he would be okay reading it. Thanks for the suggestion!

>3 lilithcat: I think that the first one you listed, The Apartment: A Century of Russian History will be good for him since the visuals in it are so good. He likes cutaways where you can see into things (I ended up getting him a whole book of ones that showed the workings of various vehicles, and he loved it last year). Thanks for the suggestion!
