Hello all!
I'm looking for a book I never finished reading a few years ago, so I think it was published pretty recently. It's a book about a young girl growing up I believe in the inter war years (or somewhere around then) in England. I believe she lived with an aunt or family member until they passed away. She leaves her regular school when she gets into a boarding school (I remember vividly a scene where she went with a family member to a department store to buy her uniform) where she meets a rich friend and starts going there for school holidays...
I know it's not much to go on, but it was a pretty long book with a small red house on the cover and I believe the title had the word "home" in it. Potentially even "the way home" or something like that. It's a pretty slow paced book and it follows a lot of family dynamics and coming of age themes. Thanks so much!
