Hi there! I'm brand spanking new and PRAYING someone can help me identify a book I read twice in my early teens and have thought about since.
The plot has a pair of siblings (I think brother and sister) who wake up and find their house has changed. There's all sorts of paranormal phenomenon going on around them, and the atmosphere is very suspenseful and scary. There's the presence of another child, and that child's at risk and they feel like they need to help save the child (and maybe that they'll get to go home if they do).
I don't remember much of the plot beyond that, except for the ending. They're able to save the child, and it's revealed that the siblings themselves were ghosts the entire time, and that they'd died when they fell through the ice while skating.
The cover, I think, showed a cabin and snow falling- but it's entirely possible that's a false memory because I seem to remember that I was at my aunt's place reading it the first time, while it was snowing at the time.
If you can help me, it would be INCREDIBLE!

Agree. All On a Winter's Day by Lisa Taylor (1989). Lucy and her brother Hugh awaken one cold winter's night to discover that they are alone in their house, that someone has rearranged the furniture, and that two ghostly children and their evil aunt have arrived... and they cannot leave the grounds.
