Dozens of my covers disappeared this morning, and when I select a different cover (I’m
aware of the Amazon cover issue), ALL covers for these books still display as the default blank cover. Bizarrely the new covers register when I look at my library in a browser, but they remain blank in the ap. Ideas?

Yep, something is going on with the app (Iphone 8, latest iOS): same issue. All the covers are shown as the default brown rectangle both in lists and on the book page inside of the app (when you click "View on LibraryThing" it shows them properly).

Yes! I have the same problem. Images is shown on the web, but in the app most of the covers are gone. Uploading images through the app still works, but the images are only visible on the web. I have the ios app

I rarely use the app, but I checked to confirm. I took the last twenty-four books I added to my library, and exactly twelve show blank covers. It appears this approximate ratio continues for older books, although I did not count. The covers that do appear seem to be the correct covers, with one possible exception that might be a case of Amazon doing its thing.
There does not appear to be any pattern to which ones show and which ones don't -- it's not member-uploaded covers, because some are present and some are missing. I do not think it is a cache issue, either, because I use the app rarely enough that some of those books were added after my last use; the images could not have been cached (even if the LibraryThing app has a cover cache, which I don't know).
No problems viewing them on the web version using Firefox. I even launched Chrome, which I very rarely use, and the covers appeared there, too, so (again) it can't be that the browser had the images cached. This is on a 2017 MacBook Air, MacOS 12.6.1.
The phone I use is an iPhone 7, with an out-of-date OS; Apple won't update it to iOS 16.

Confirmed and passing this information to the developers. Thanks for your patience!

I also have the same problem, starting Nov 8. I have an iPhone 12 pro running iOS 16.0. :(

>7 aspirit: Confirming that I also see this, using Android v. 1.1.2 (build 29). Will pass along to the developers.

For LT staff: are these Amazon covers, per chance?
The fact that the Android app also has the same issue means that it's either an Amazon issue or our API causing it (which is better, actually, because we can fix it without an app update).

>9 conceptDawg: For my part, I try never to use Amazon covers. Almost all of the ones I looked at were covers uploaded by me personally, with one or two member-uploaded, but by someone else.

>9 conceptDawg: For my library: Originally - yes. But then I replaced them with LT covers via the website (not in the app) and the new ones were visible in the app post replacement (and then disappeared). So none of the missing covers are Amazon for me.

>9 conceptDawg: I too can confirm that it is not just Amazon covers. A lot of my books don't have Amazon covers, and if I have a choice, I no longer use Amazon covers.
I have been checking, and while I can't see anything the missing covers have in common, the missing covers are consistent: The ones that were missing this morning were also missing this afternoon, and now this evening, and similarly with the ones that were present this morning: They are still visible.

This should now be fixed! Please let us know if you're still missing covers in the app but not the website. (You may need to force-close/reopen the App.)

They appear to be back for me. At least, every one I saw to be missing yesterday is back; I didn't scroll through my entire catalog. :-)
