Some of you know William G Haynes, Jr. (1908-2001) as a fine letterpress printer from the 1950s until his passing. He created a nonprofit Ashantilly Center, Inc. to continue his legacies including book arts, local history and culture, and the environment. The Board of Directors has many examples of Bill's earlier work as he prepared for a career in illustrations, and we have a new children's book out that shows his 1930s era work from his period in New York City at the Grand Central School of Art. "Fire Dog" is available from most of the distributors including Amazon, and is a very sweet, vintage story of a dog searching for his name. We thought some of you might enjoy seeing it! He never left a written story, but a current Ashantilly member and former reading teacher created the text to accompany his artwork!
