So far this month I've read The Rising Tide by Ann Cleeves and Hell and Back by Craig Johnson. I'm also very slowly working on Why Shoot a Butler by Georgette Heyer. The main character is arrogant and self-satisfied, and seems to feel no hurry despite the fact two more people have been murdered since he started working on it. But I'm not much of a fan of amateur detectives in general.

Currently reading Brimstone by Preston & Child, The Forgotten Man by Robert Crais and River of Ruin by Jack Du Brul. All authors I have previously enjoyed and all are also older works from said authors. So far so good.

Just finished The Lantern Men by Elly Griffiths for a friend's online book group. Not as atmospheric as her other Ruth Galloway books but good nonetheless. Also finished Love Songs from a Shallow Grave by Colin Cotterill. Love the Dr. Siri books and this is no exception. So sorry Cotterill has finished with the the Dr. Siri books. Now starting 56 Days by Catherine Ryan Howard for my library sponsored book group next week. It's a thriller set in Ireland during the pandemic in which lockdown for a brand new couple apparently leads to murder. We'll see how I feel about it in a few days (and how the pandemic has now leaked into my pleasure reading)!

Now reading Cold as hell by Lilja Sigurdardottir. Two sisters are half Icelandic and half British -- one parent of each nationality. One starts looking for the other in Iceland after their mother becomes concerned by the lack of contact. So far so good. Content note for abusive romantic relationship.

>2 gmathis: I just did a re-read of her Royal Threesome, a compendium of the first three Georgie novels, in preparation for continuing with the series. Such fun.

>7 Jim53: There have been long gaps in between the ones I've read, and quite possibly not in order, but Royal Flush is definitely the best of the lot so far. The Tuscan Child is nothing like Rhys Bowen's cozy mystery series and was an excellent read.

I had one from the Molly Murphy series (Death of Riley, I think) in my possession but passed it on unread. (What was I thinking? :)

Highly recommend A Slow Fire Burning by Paula Hawkins. Finished it a few weeks back & thoroughly enjoyed it!

I'm just about finished The Windsor Knot by SJ Bennett. Nice cozy mystery and I'll definitely look for the second book in the series. The Queen solves mysteries!

I have just completed Hitler's Secret by Rory Clements and greatly enjoyed this spy story moving between Berlin, Sweden and England. It is the third in a series but reads quite well as a stand-alone. Touchstones would not pick up the title I'm afraid.

Just finished The dime, the first of Kathleen Kent's books featuring Detective Betty Rhyzyk. Some grim and bloody violence, but decent book. More of a thriller than a mystery.

Have just turned a friend loose on the Barker and Llewellyn series by Will Thomas, and she's having so much fun, I decided to go for the ride again, too: currently revisiting Old Scores.

I just finished the first book in a new series, Station Eternity by Mur Lafferty. Takes place partly on a space station with several kinds of aliens, so perhaps not the usual crime novel. Double-digit body count, and that's not including a few historic murders that come up in the story. Decent mystery, if you don't mind a little science fiction mixed in.

Wading through my Ross Thomas collection. This one is Protocol for a Kidnapping, the second in the Philip St. Ives series, all written under the pseudonym Olive Bleeck.

Reading The Last Séance by Agatha Christie - a collection of her spooky supernatural short stories and started rereading a (middle-grade) mystery Das Haus am Deich (=The house at the dyke) from my childhood.

Just finished Killers of a certain age, I think a standalone story about four women assassins in their sixties who are about to be "retired" from the organization. It's good to see a book with older women who kick ass, sometimes literally.

Whoops, I did find Death of Riley by Rhys Bowen squirreled away in one of (ahem) several small and nearly-forgotten paperback hordes. It's up next.

I've finished The Eye of Minds by James Dashner, a sci-fi thriller for young adults. It's a fun read but light on character development.

Off to a fast start with Fletch by Gregory McDonald. Somehow I missed all this, including the movie, back in the ‘70s. Thanks to Jon Hamm for jarring my memory.
