I seem to read quite a few books that later end up on these lists. *sigh*
I definitely recommend Gender Queer which I read last year.

For Banned Book Week, Diverse Books interviewed several queer creators on their experiences with book banning. The participating authors were Miriam Moore-Keish, Mike Curato, Alex Gino, Noah Grigni, and Cathy G. Johnson.
