God rest her soul

Her first PM was born in 1874 and her last PM was born in 1975. Her life was a history book.

2022 is a terrible year.

Our Swedish king just stated: ” With sadness, my family and I have today received the news that my dear relative, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, has passed away.
The Queen served Her countries and the Commonwealth with an outstanding devotion and sense of duty. She has been a constant presence, not only in British society but internationally. In addition, she has always been a good friend to my family and a link to our shared family history.
We offer our condolences to the Queen's family and to Her people.
H. M. THE KING”

>5 SF-72: I disagree sadly and it pains me to say it, as I find the institution of monarchy a sound one. But she presided as head of state over the greatest destruction of every facet of British society imaginable and uttered not one word to stop it.

And we've really seen nothing yet. Her son along with his bestest friend Klaus Schwab, and the rest of the nefarious cabal are going to take the dystopia to unheard of levels.

Think you'll find she was in the army that was stopping the greatest destruction of every facet of British society imaginable.

>7 InVitrio: She wasn't 'IN' the army. She didn't charge a pill box under enemy fire or navigate a Lancaster bomber. She took a driver and vehicle maintenance course in Aldershot, Surrey!

Do you think it is easier to destroy a nation through armaments or the covert use of psychological instruments of power. The world she arrived in and the one she has departed from are the complete inverse. The country she assumed state control over and the one she has departed from is a complete inverse. Whatever someone in England thought then, they now are told the complete opposite.

P.S Her husband infamously attended the funeral of a high ranking member of that group and gave the famous salute.

Her husband, when a boy, attended the funeral of his sister, and as soon as he could signed up to fight the Nazis. And his mother is Righteous Among Nations. But we seem to be in extraterrestrial lizard territory here so I'm out.

>8 tkidcharlemagne: You just provided the literal definition of an ad hominem by the way. Impeccable. The little green alien trope. By the way he was 16 and his three sisters all married leading members of that regime.

Fawning over a woman who, as revealed in the paradise papers, hoarded her own personal wealth in cayman island tax havens, while her crown is literally over the taxation apparatus that destitutes her subjects (and pursues them and their ancestors beyond the grave), is a special kind of stockholm syndrome.

If you look out for an earlier thread, "Imagine a world where a charity shop advertises a 'used' folio book above r.r.p" and drop down to post no 42 you will find an excellent guide composed by Warwick about how to identify and deal with a troll. On your way to post 42 and for some time after you will observe the largest number of red flags ever "earned" by a poster on FSD. No guesses as to their identity. Do as you see fit but Warwick's advice is worth reading and following. The troll is only interested in provoking reactions to their increasingly controversial stances. No reaction, no troll.

“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”

Pros and cons about the monarchy and all that aside. She was this and she was that aside. Image building this or that. I agree with Mick Jagger. She was also an Icon, maybe not to you who read this, but to so many else. And she was a reminder that elegance is hot (I don`t want to go into that, and you have to know how to use it). Yes, monarchy is an institution, and whether you, the reader, liked her or not, she was that institution. Because, like Jagger said, quote `Queen Elizabeth II has always been there`. Like it or not. Personally I don`t care what anyone would answer to that question. Not interesting at all - on librarything that is. She always was there. The face, the eyes, that stare, that young kind of fascinating kind of beauty kind of. Good luck to those that come after. This will be like when Sir Alex left United. Sorry, wrong forum.

Every week my mother bought those weekly magazines full of gozip and nothing and royalty, along with a piece of chocolade, she was there. That face that stare. Sometimes she would also be on the chocolade paper I presume. The face of a nation, to put it mildly. What now, when that face is gone. Don`t answer, it`s not a question.

Editied for this : "Oh, so you say weekly magazines comes out weekly. Hmm .. how very interesting"

Indeed. Perhaps it's the result of too much fantasy all round.

By the way, Queen Elizabeth's connection with Charlemagne was possibly more compelling - by actual descent.

>18 boldface: Kid charlemagne is taken from a Steely Dan track. I think the Royal family particularly Prince Charles takes far more pleasure in his apparent descent from Vlad the Impaler. Hero or villain take your pick. I doubt the Transylvanian would be particularly impressed with our new Monarch.

You see occasional discussions in the media about the UK dispensing with the monarchy and creating a new constitution along the lines of the USA.

These discussions are usually terminated by comments along the lines of 'How would you like to see a President Blair?'.

Or, if you really wanted to crush the argument, how about a President Johnson? And I don't mean Lyndon B.

Oh, and as a very tall and imposing figure (6'4"), he was proud of his, well, johnson...

I quite liked old Lyndon, though his reputation was somewhat tarnished by Vietnam. Our own British President was quite tall and imposing too and apparently very proud of his Johnson, judging by the number of childen, legitimate and otherwise, he has sired.
