Comprehensive books about the history of magic, automatons, and the circus?

For anyone interested, here are some books I've found so far:

1. The Circus. 1870s–1950s by Linda Granfield, Fred Dahlinger, and Noel Daniel.
2. Hiding The Elephant: How Magicians Invented the Impossible by Jim Steinmeyer.
3. Magic 1400s–1950s by Mike Caveney, Jim Steinmeyer, Ricky Jay, and Noel Daniel.
4. The Spectacle of Illusion: Magic, The Paranormal and The Complicity of The Mind by Matthew L. Tompkins.
5. Gods and Robots: Myths, Machines, and Ancient Dreams of Technology by Adrienne Mayor.
6. Medieval Robots: Mechanism, Magic, Nature, and Art (The Middle Ages Series) by E. R. Truitt.

Have you tried using tagmashes to search for books? Possibly automatons + circus, or at least automatons + history? I think that tagmashes require a minimum of two tags, but you can search for three at least.

Go to one of the books in your list in >1 VoicelessTorment:.
Click on one of the tags you are searching for (e.g. circus)
Scroll down the page until you get to the tag mash section on the right.
Click on a tag mash link of interest.
