Metric measure

LT defaults to imperial units (inches, pounds weight etc,) I know there is an option to change to Kg/cm units but my copy of LT always goes back to imperial. How to I get it to stay Metric?

I don't think there is a way to do that. I've entered thousands of books and for each and every one I've had to change it. (We are talking about the edit page? Your post is unprecise as to where you notice the problem.)

Like Britain, LT will go metric, every inch of the way :-)

Use libraries as data source, they always use metric so that's what your record will show without the need to change. They only list spin length, though.

I've just catalogued a heap of books, using libraries as a source where possible, but they're all still showing dimensions in inches (in Your Books).

Having a way to set the default would be great. It's annoying that you have to click convert on every book you enter. And escpecially if you entered values and then notice you didn't convert the empty fields first.

mm (millimetres) is preferable for items from books to furniture and is pretty standard here in Australia and most other metric countries. It avoids having to enter a decimal point. It's little things like this that brand LT as a US creation. Change in this area progresses at a snails pace, about two furlongs per fortnight.

It's slower than that.

I support that too.

Yesterday and today I wrote two messages with very similar topics in another forum post (post numbers 13 and 15).
Anyone interested can find it at the following link: https://www.librarything.de/topic/349188#n8427565

>13 birder4106: New user from South Africa. Perhaps its the book traders and book publishers that use inches as standard? But for us normal non-USA readers, we're accustomed to think in centimetres, not inches. Allowing a user-based default setting for this would be really great.
