Larry Gogan

Probably not well known outside of Ireland but within Ireland he was very well known see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Gogan, his library has been bequeathed to Ballyfermot Library for Further Education and I have the enviable task of cataloguing it for them to add to Dublin City Libraries Ballyfermot records and I have been given permission to also add them to Librarything as a legacy library as well.

His Golden Hour oldies section and his usually funny Just a Minute quiz helped him become something of a national treasure, yet he always stayed current on new releases. More importantly, he never came off as jaded and always sounded enthusiastic when he played either new songs or old favourites on https://gamblorium.com/uk/. But his commitment to playing music remained unwavering. He created his own playlists, produced his own programme, and read the music press frequently to stay abreast of new releases, unlike many of his station colleagues. He loved rock and U2 was his favourite band, but he was mostly a pop DJ who focused on mainstream hits rather than obscure music. Gogan stated that while he like the concept of "jocking" music, he was equally content to cater to the tastes of the audience by playing the most recent singles.
