Thankfully, GOPers account for only 25% of registered voters. Apparently, some clueless people still prefer to hold on to a 1950's type mindset in 21st century America.

But whatever - you're the guy who thought Trump wrote a book, what do I care what you think about anything?

Tucker Carlson condemned for Ketanji Brown Jackson ‘Rwanda’ comments

The nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson is an attempt to “defile” the supreme court and “humiliate and degrade” the US, the Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson claimed on Friday night.

Tucker does this type of attack rant on a brown woman every single Friday. The pattern is there for everyone to see, and Murdoch is paying TC big bucks to continue doing what his viewers tune in to hear.

But among Republicans, 16 percent replied that having a Black woman as a Supreme Court justice would be a “good thing for the country,” and 70 percent replied that it “would make no difference.”

For all intents and purposes, the modern-day GOP is a white power cult with dual leaders ~ Trump and Carlson.

Very pro-drug both in and out of court. De facto president Joe Biden must have thought of his putative son Hunter and the possibility he ends up facing justice for his drug use.

The true president would not put his family above national interests.

The NYT visited Brown Jackson’s high school to interview current debate team students.

Some of the students wore matching team T-shirts.

“DEBATE IS LIFE,” they read. “The rest is just prep time.”

WATCH: Tiffany Cross and Elie Mystal Agree That Josh Hawley is Trying to Get Ketanji Brown-Jackson Killed
Todd Neikirk | March 19, 2022

...During a weekend segment (MSNBC) on the nomination, Tiffany Cross and Elie Mystal agreed that the Missouri senator (Josh Hawley) is trying to get Brown-Jackson killed.

Hawley tweeted this week, “Judge Jackson has a pattern of letting child porn offenders off the hook for their appalling crimes, both as a judge and as a policymaker. She’s been advocating for it since law school. This goes beyond “soft on crime.” I’m concerned that this a record that endangers our children.”

Discussing the tweet, Mystal claimed, “What Josh Hawley is doing, let’s let’s be very clear, what Josh Hawley is doing when he tries to do this, is he’s trying to get her killed. He is trying to get violence done against a Supreme Court nominee.”

The pundit continued, “You know how I know that Josh Hawley knows what Pizzagate is all about? Because guess who’s the judge who sentenced the Pizzagate guy? Oh, that was Ketanji Brown Jackson.”...

In the modern-day GOP, this dude is considered to be a conservative intellectual. Justice Amy Coney Barrett received an approval rating of 50 percent during her confirmation hearings in 2020, while 45 percent approved of Justice Neil Gorsuch in 2017, and only 40 percent said they would vote to confirm Justice Brett Kavanaugh in 2018.....

A Cheap Shot from Tom Cotton

It’s not just Ted Cruz. This afternoon, Tom Cotton said the following in explaining why he intends to vote against Ketanji Brown Jackson:

You know the last Justice Jackson left the Supreme Court to go to Nuremberg and prosecute the case against the Nazis. This Judge Jackson might have gone there to defend them.

***
No surprises here ~ This sicko is a Congressional senator from a state (Ark.) where voters are most likely going to hand Sarah Huckabee the governorship on a silver platter. His last name is Cotton, and I wouldn't be surprised if his ancestors owned slaves.

I wonder how this chap figures out that a judge whom most of his colleagues deem to be too left wing would go out of her way to defend, er, extreme right wing Nazis? Although of course everybody is entitled to a fair trial which includes a fair defence, even right wing Nazis.

>26 John5918: And that is of course the basis of the US legal system: no matter how heinous the crime someone is accused of, they have an absolute right to a vigorous and effective defense.
I would hope that anyone stepping up to open their piehole about the US legal system would at least have grasped that basic principle, and the reasons for it.

The chutzpah of these people is pretty remarkable, when you think about it. If you wanted to establish a fascist state, one of the first things you would have to establish would be a mechanism whereby the state could arbitrarily lock up anyone they choose. And that is exactly what Cotton is arguing for when he militates against the right to an effective defense.
I'm absolutely certain he's aware that this is where his argument goes, and that that is exactly why he went to the "Nazi" comment.

That these people are utterly shameless is not news. But what about the people who support them? How does someone become an ardent supporter of fascism?

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson has been sworn in (video) and is showing she meant it when she said she's "ready to work".

I was looking for political children's books that might be useful this year and discovered there are none on LibraryThing about this new member of the US Supreme Court. There's not much about her in any published books; most of the scarce options for any readership seem to have been compilations of online text by self-published authors with no notable credentials.

One promising book that is scheduled for release next spring is Ketanji Brown Jackson: A Justice for All by Tami Charles and Jemma Skidmore.

For now, I'm going back to look again at what came up in the judicial committee's hearing. These were mentioned in at least one of the videos linked above.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) questioned then-Judge Jackson about several books (which up to that point, she had no special association with in publishing). Esquire made a reading list from Cruz's choices.
