I've been on the hunt for books I had as a kid- I have found most, except this one. If you know anything, please tell me! I would really appreciate it.

Key plot points:
- A girl does not have a pet for the pet day/pet show at school, so her parents decide to make a wooden/cardboard/some sort of brown material small pony or horse. It has a recorder in it too, I think, and it makes horse sounds.
- Cue "Rome wasn't built in a day" references- I think they end up naming the horse Rome? She sleeps next to it too, like a teddy bear.
- She and her family go to a ranch/farm at some point, and they meet actual horses.
- On pet day/at the class pet show, a boy (I think) keeps teasing her, saying his dog can make sounds while the horse can't. Cue, her pushing the recorder's button.
- The illustration was very classic 1950s-1980s greeting card-ish, I think? I remember a specific drawing of her and her classmates sitting happily with their pets, including a girl with a white mouse.

Misc. points:
- I read it in the mid-late 2000s, to early-mid 2010s.
- It was a regular children's book- a moderate amount of words, with illustrations.
- I think there was a meet the authors/illustrators at the end? With their pictures and a few words.

Thank you, I hope this finds in good health and if you know anything, let me know!
