Adult fiction about Annie

When I was a child my mom read me a book from the adult fiction section in our library. It was a novelization of the play Annie. I thought the title was "Annie" but searching for that doesn't turn up what I'm looking for. In the book it starts off in the orphanage and talks about the girls going to school and working to sew dresses for Miss Hannigan. When she runs away she gone from the orphanage for several months. During that time she works in a restaurant and ends up living in a homeless camp and working as an apple seller in Grand Central Station. I'm trying to figure out the exact title and an author so I can track this book down.

Wikipedia says there are two novelizations of the musical, one by Thomas Meehan and the other by Leonore Fleischer.

Meehan's: https://www.librarything.com/work/2502589
Fleischer's: https://www.librarything.com/work/1101293

The one by Leonore Fleishcer is based on the movie and not what I'm looking for. The one by Thomas Meehan shows up every time I search but it's a children's book. I'm sure the book I remember was shelved in the adult fiction section of our library. Also, the page count doesn't seem to be high enough for the book I'm remembering.

The Meehan book may have been shelved in the adult section, especially if the library did not have a Young Adult section or if they shelved it with films/plays - since it is a novelization of the play. (Or if the community had an issue with a book that has drinking in it being shelved in the children's section.)
