Buying second-hand books from Germany to the UK

I would like to buy a second-hand book from a seller in Germany. It costs just less than 100 euros, plus c.20 euros p&p.

Post-Brexit, am I likely to be charged export duty by Germany or import duty by the UK, and how much is it likely to be? I can't find anything obvious online.

I understand that buying new books from EU publishers is still meant to be duty-free, but that is not applicable here.

Has anyone any post-Brexit experience of buying second-hand books from sellers in the EU? Many thanks.

I bought, through AbeBooks, a paperback from a German dealer last October. I didn't notice any extra charges.

"Item Status: Confirmed

Title: The Abominable Man (The Martin Beck series, Book 7)

Author: Sjöwall, Maj; Wahlöö, Per

Quantity: 1

Book Description: Befriedigend/Good: Durchschnittlich erhaltenes Buch bzw. Schutzumschlag mit Gebrauchsspuren, aber vollständigen Seiten. / Describes the average WORN book or dust jacket that has all the pages present.
ISBN: 9780007242979
Binding: Soft cover
Book Price: £ 9.34

Postage Price: £ 1.36"

That is probably not very helpful ;-)

>2 abbottthomas: The changes came into force 1st January this year, so that may not be the case now.

It's not books but we deal with German suppliers and we're having one hell of a job with shipping. It's a huge problem.

A few years ago, I bought a book (here in the UK) desired by an LTer in the US and posted it to her (read it first, of course;). She sent me a couple of interesting things from the US, though nowadays it can be quite cheap to transfer money. Anyway, the point was that it was much cheaper than getting the book sent direct by the bookseller, plus of course I labelled it as a gift for customs duty. You could try asking in suitable group if someone would help out.

In case you wondered, the book was The Fortalices and early mansions of southern Scotland 1400 to 1650.
