There are always some strings that cannot be reached by clicking the 'Translate' button, texts in lightboxes and such. For them we have to use the page+filter translate.php?remaining=1 . When they have been translated, they are only available using the filter ?remaining=2 . If we find a mistranslation (typo or just misunderstanding) that page is the only place where we can change them.
Right now, I cannot save any changes to translations on that page. I've tried both Firefox on Mac OS and Chrome on Windows 10, so it's likely not a browser issue. I can click Save, and it looks like the page saves, but the changes do not seem to be written to disk.

Sorry, but what page exactly? Do you have URLs you can plug in, here? Or, a set of precise steps for how to navigate to the page/s you're describing? I'm happy to take a closer look with more details, thanks for your help.

>2 kristilabrie: I didn't give a URL because you need to be on a non-English site, but let's use the French site. The list of all strings that have been translated is here: https://www.librarything.fr/translate.php?remaining=2. If you change a translation there, go to the bottom of the page and click Enregistrer les modifications, but the save action doesn't take. Reload the page again and you'll find that the translated string is the same as it was before you changed it.
Note: I haven't tried this on the French site, just the Swedish one. If you don't see the bug on www.librarything.fr, try se.librarything.com.

Does not work on the Bulgarian site either (it sends me to https://bg.librarything.com/savetranslation.php as it should but then dies there with "The page isn’t redirecting properly".

>4 AnnieMod: Yes, I noticed that error now. It didn't happen earlier when I noticed this bug, but it might be related to the bug.

>3 anglemark: Great, thank you! I've got test accounts I use for various non-English sites, so no problem there. Much appreciated.
7kristilabrie
Followed your steps in >3 anglemark: and upon clicking the "Enregistrer les modifications" I'm brought to https://www.librarything.com/home. I think this might be an older redirect issue from our server changes a couple months ago. I'll see if pedro.pessoa can verify/dive into it, thanks.
8kristilabrie
I stand corrected by conceptDawg, that's not the issue apparently. Devs are on it, though!
9AnnieMod
>7 kristilabrie: See >4 AnnieMod: - not what I am seeing. I wonder if the whole set of forwarders is either broken or one of the servers is acting up?

This also affects saving any changes from the "See all untranslated text" page, so pretty much all the new text from Charts and Graphs.

>10 Aquila: Yes, that is exactly the issue. Sorry if my verbosity above made you think it was some other issue I was reporting.

I also cannot translate the phrase "Charts & Graphs" - it just resets to English each time I save the translation of any page it is on, e.g. https://mi.librarything.com/home#
I was able to translate "Charts and Graphs!" on the same page, so it isn't all new text being blocked.
Edit: Never mind, I was able to translate it on the reviews page and it's stuck on the home page.

>12 Aquila: Is this still an issue (for anyone)? I'm seeing translated text for the "Charts & Graphs" section on the /home page of mi.librarything.com.
Can you send me a link to the page, and also a screenshot, of the English text you're having trouble translating still? Thanks!

At any rate, this bug hasn't been corrected, so we still have to live with mistranslations and stuff.

I just can approve that too.

>13 kristilabrie: I was able to translate it via a different page it was on, thanks, I don't know what caused the issue or if it'll crop up again.
But the original bug is leaving a lot of stuff untranslatable.

>16 Aquila: Got it, the developers discussed what needs to be done to fix this bug, yesterday. I will keep reminding timspalding about it. Thanks for your patience!

Assigning to Lucy. Talk to me about it Lucy.

I believe this issue is fixed. Please let us know if you continue to have issues with the translate page.

>19 knerd.knitter: I can confirm that it seems to have been fixed. Thank you.

Yep, that worked, I was just able to translate several things on that page that previously wouldn't. But why does it act like I've also translated fields that I haven't? It's showing me as having translated a bunch of new fields and announcements - to the identical text. I've seen it do this before, always randomly.

Thanks >19 knerd.knitter: It seems to be working now. Finally.
In https://www.librarything.de/stats/birder4106/read the headings for "Books Read (Bücher gelesen), (Seiten gelesen), Average Pages/Book (Mittel der Seiten/Buch), Read by Month (gelesen nach Monat)" in English. However, they cannot be found in the translation pages and therefore cannot be translated.
The rest of the terms on the page are displayed correctly and have been translated.

To what extent is this a solution to my question?
In "https://www.librarything.de/translate.php?remaining=1" or "https://www.librarything.de/translate.php?remaining=2" The expressions Books Read, Average Pages/Book, Read by Month cannot be found in this way.
