Chas. van Sandwyk Wind in the Willows (2005)

I posted this on the Fine Press forum and a member suggested I include it for this group as well...

Thought members of this group might be interested in the "Illustrator's" issue of Wind in the Willows. This is the Folio Society's first edition (2005) with CVS's art, not the more elaborate second one (2008). These copies were available only from the artist, and included an inserted leaf with etching and letterpress.

I knew this existed but have never seen one! I’m so happy you shared it!

Did you buy it personally from CVS or have you bought it on the aftermarket? If you u bought it directly I’d love to hear a bit more detail - was it sold on his website? How much did it cost? Do you know if it sold out very fast?

My memory of this is vague. This copy came to me kind of indirectly (and I passed it along not too long after getting it - his art is wonderful but this is not my scene). I believe these copies were available only directly from the artist, or through a small print gallery in Vancouver that sold his work. I don't think he had any web presence at the time. I think they were sold for around US$250? Not more than 300. I have no idea how quickly they sold.

The limitation was 150 copies. Now highly desirable.
