Group Read: June and July 2021: Nominations

What books would you like for the group reads in June and July 2021? Please nominate up to two books and second as many nominated books as you like. We'll have a poll from the seconded books in around a week.

I am terrible at actually reading books in the month chosen (if I hadn't read them previously), but I do like to nominate and vote as a way to encourage me to get around to those books eventually...

I would like to read The Glimpses of the Moon and Cane.

I'm not sure if I will be able to fit another book into my June schedule but I also would like to read both of these books in the near future so I second both of them.

The glimpses of the moon sounds like fun!

I’ll nominate Asphodel by HD. I just read a good nonfiction book that she was a big part of and it got me interested in reading this.

I would like to nominate Blaming by Elizabeth Taylor and Waterland by Graham Swift.

And I would like to second The Glimpses Of The Moon, as my library has a copy and I love Wharton.

I too have a terrible track record with group reads but I'll try!

I find it quite difficult to find some of the more obscure OOP titles from the list, especially as libraries seem to cull books so quickly.

I nominate Things Fall Apart and second Cane. I thought you must mean Cain but I discovered that these are two different books, both on the list!

I second Blaming by Elizabeth Taylor (not the actress, I suppose, though that would be cool) and nominate Burmese Days by George Orwell.

There have been no votes cast in the last couple of days, and two clear winners: The Glimpses of the Moon and Blaming. These will be our group reads for June and July respectively and I will put up a thread for each at the start of the relevant month.
