Can Foxing Happen on Coated Paper?

So, recently I just bought a maybe quite old book (it was secondhand) with smooth plastic-like paper. It 'should' be a coated paper. Then I realized some really faint yellow spots on just the bottom of the book, not even the pages, just the bottom which you can see before opening the book. Very faint yellow. Since the book is coated I thought maybe foxing couldn't happen. But since I saw what I saw... Can foxing happen on coated paper?
