If you have any ideas for resources to help me come up with ideas for Settings or Genre/Themes, I'd appreciate it.

DETAILS

The challenge set up is a little different for this month. Your number will give you your continent. Come back to this post to pick one of the mini-challenges for your continent(s.) Fiction and nonfiction are acceptable.
AUTHOR: Read a book with an author that is/was a natural citizen of a country or has/had lived a significant portion of their life in a country from that continent.
OR
PERSON FROM CULTURE: Read a book about or with a main or significant secondary character from a named culture within an identified country/continent that can be found in a reliable resource. For the purposes of this challenge, Wikipedia will be considered a reliable resource.
OR
COVER/TITLE: Read a book with a continent-related item on the cover or in the title. See below for what needs to be on the cover for each continent with examples. Being on the cover also includes in the title for the purposes of this challenge. Unspecified includes fictional/fantasy worlds/places.
Asia: Inanimate items associated with Asia - examples: temples, chopsticks, saffron robes, kimonos, longyi, conical hats, jade, prayer rugs, keffieh, backgammon
Africa: Animals from Africa - examples: lion, elephant, giraffe, zebra, cheetah, scarab, crocodiles, ostriches, secretary birds, lovebirds, grey parrot
Australia/Oceania: The Ocean/Sea - either around Australia/Oceania or unspecified, i.e. can't obviously be somewhere else like Florida
Europe: Landmarks - examples: Big Ben, Eiffel Tower, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Neuschwanstein Castle, Stonehenge, Alhambra, Winter Palace, Nyhavn, Oia Windmill
North America: Food/Drink from North America - examples: Coca-Cola, Burgers, Deep Dish Pizza, Biscuits and Gravy, Apple Pie, Squash, Potatoes, Avocados, Poutine, Maple Syrup, Bannock, Fajitas, Mole, Tamales, Tequila, Gallo Pinto, Pupusa, Pinolillo
South America: The Jungle/Forests - either around South America or unspecified, i.e. can't obviously be somewhere else like the Rockies
OR
SETTING: Read a book with a significant portion of the book *placed* in/about the named setting - at least a few chapters or 10% of the book (whichever is greater - guestimates are fine.) Unspecified includes fictional/fantasy worlds/places.
Asia: North Korea, Himalayas, Typhoon/Cyclone.
Africa: African Safari, African Desert, Ancient Egypt.
Australia/Oceania: Any island in the area or an unspecified island, i.e. can't obviously be somewhere else like Jamaica, Papua New Guinea, Aboard a sea-faring vessel of any type in that area or unspecified.
Europe: Rome, Winery/Wine Country/Brewery in that area or unspecified, Castle in that area or unspecified
North America: Old West, Broadway, Caribbean.
South America: European Colonization of South America/Affect of Infectious Diseases on South American Indigenous Peoples, Argentina, Ancient Ruins (either current or when people lived there).
OR
GENRE/THEME:
Read a book with a named tag for the applicable continent - does not have to be first level. I'll accept any book in a fictional series mentioned if it makes sense. For instance in Medieval Fantasy, I saw A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin, so all Earthsea books would qualify. All must be set on that continent, be unspecified, or be on/in a fictional world/place.
Asia: Based on or related to Asian folklore/legend (tagged Asia + folklore or legend, etc.), Cultural Revolution,
Africa: Colonialism, Archeology/Paleontology, Autobiography or Memoir by a person that is a/was natural citizen of or has/have lived a significant portion of their life in a country from Africa.
Australia/Oceania: Reefs,
Europe: Medieval Fantasy (knights, dragons, princesses, etc.)
North America: Backpacking/Hiking, Small Town Mysteries (tagmash helps)
South America:

NOTES: North America includes Central America. Europe includes Russia per UN Guidelines. (75% of Russian population is in Europe.) Egypt belongs to Africa because only a small portion is in Asia - the Sinai Peninsula. If in doubt, look up the countries of each continent at https://www.worldometers.info/geography/7-continents/.

Getting ready to assign continents. Please be sure to read >1 Morphidae: THOROUGHLY as it has all the mini-challenges.
I'm still working on the SETTINGS and GENRE/THEME challenges but didn't want you to have to wait anymore.
If you have any ideas for resources to help me come up with ideas for Settings or Genre/Themes, I'd appreciate it.

The Settings mini-challenges have been completed.
The Cover mini-challenges have been clarified, including that unspecified includes fantasy/fictional worlds and that lists are examples not definitive.

I hope I'm understanding this. I plan to read Stonehenge by Bernard Cornwell for the European continent.
29Morphidae
>28 Citizenjoyce: Yes, it has Stonehenge on the cover as a picture AND as a title. You have it doubly covered!
30majkia
For Africa I'll be reading The Children of Blood and Bone set in Africa.
31SilverWolf28
I'll read something by C. J. Petit, who writes about the old west, for my North America challenge.
32SilverWolf28
I rolled a 2 for my second challenge.
40SilverWolf28
>39 Morphidae: 5 and 1

I'm #1
46Citizenjoyce
I changed my mind. For Europe, instead of reading Stonehenge I'm going to reread The Mists of Avalon in four parts starting with Mistress of Magic. I'm so excited, it's been a long time, and I loved it the first time I read it.

There's some confusion about the CULTURE/PERSON tag which reads, "Read a book about or with a main or significant secondary character from a named culture within an identified country/continent that can be found in a reliable resource."
So I've changed the header to PERSON FROM CULTURE. In the wiki, you should mention the culture and if it's a main or secondary character (plus the character's name if you wish.)
