I am looking for a book that is about a young rabbit who is a talented portrait painter. I am 80% sure his name is Roger.
Roger sets out to make his way in the world and become a famous painter. HE leaves home with his supplies and a suitcase with a small number of suits made for him by his mother with, I believe, pearl buttons, and his manners.
Along the way he makes friends because of his manners and pays his way by painting portraits including one of a daughter of an innkeeper.
The young rabbit eventually becomes well-known and a portrait painter for the king and queen.
The book is probably 6-9 chapters (possibly longer), hard cover. I don't remember a dust jacket. the copy my mom had was blue hardback with a cloth cover. It's likely 60-70 years old. Publication date would definitely be before 1968.
