So, I've been trying to find out the title of this book for a while now but have been unable to do so because of covid stopping me from going back to the library I got the book from. I don't remember enough details to be able to find it on google so I'll just say all that I remember.
The main characters name is Day. From the start of the book he's living as a fugitive hiding from the government along with someone else (dont remember who). The backstory of how the character became wanted is that he had attained a perfect score, 1500/1500, on a test that was completed on everyone which would determine that persons status in the future. At that point he had been the only person to have achieved this, so the government had altered his results to make it look as though he had failed and taken him to be experimented in order to find out what was special about him. The effects of the experiment are seen through out the whole book as it's noticeable as Day experiences pain in his knee due to what was done to him - this would be highlighted in important moments of the book where he has to endure / is struck with the pain from his knee. Days is labelled as a fugitive after he escapes captivity.
There's another noteworthy female protagonist (don't remember her name too),who also achieves a perfect score on the same test Day had taken however she doesn't get is led to believe that Day has murdered her brother which drives her to hunt down day in an act of revenge. Although she doesn't try to kill Day as soon as she sees him she ends up staying undercover feigning to be Day's friend, who she still believes killed her brother. Through out the course of the book she slowly starts to realise that Day was framed for the murder of her brother. Although she changes her mind about Day, she unintentionally causes an incident which leads Day to forget his memory at the end of the book(don't remember what happened)
I'm not so sure what the title is, it could be Day but it's used in a lot of other titles which makes it significantly more harder to find without knowing the author.
