I'm looking for a book I read a long time ago. It's a novel about doctors and their lives within and outside the hospital. The only thing i have to remember the novel by is a single page. below is a paragraph from the page

Has mr selkins left the emergency room yet? we have been short of orderlies, doctor. He's just being wheeled to the elevator was the reply. thank you.
mike once again settled himself on a stool opposite the desk and idly began scanning the crossword puzzle, filling the words in with his pen. He chuckled.
He had heard somewhere that the height of egotism was doing a crossword puzzle in ink. he stopped as his eyes rested on an ad just above the puzzle.
It advertised a used car lot and the bannerline urged prospective customers to HURRY - HURRY - DON'T WAIT! A sudden whimsical thought struck him.
He wondered if accident victims realized how timing often dictated whether they lived or died. What would happen, he wondered if the medical profession
took out an ad in the morning times. mentally he began composing it HURRY - DON'T WAIT! don't wait unit 6 a.m. to have your accident. have it at 3 a.m. or 10 a.m.
or 4 p.m. 6 a.m. is a no-no if you want a chance to live. Six in the morning was the death hour, he admitted to himself - and it just couldn't be helped.

Mike penned in the name George Selkins - hereby give Dr - Mike filled in Michael Carrington the permission to perform upon me - he hesitated, then finally wrote
an abdominal tap with irrigation. He stared at the word, intrigued with the thought which had just struck him. Six months ago he would have written abdominal paracentesis
But with the current rash of malpractice suits and controversial court cases, it was imperative that the patient could never honestly say that he had not understood the procedure
involved. And just to be sure, carrington would verbally explain the procedure to him in front of witnesses

The names of characters in the novel are Dr mike carrington, Dr david savage, D merrick, George selkins, Nurse susan etc.
