I recall reading in one of Folio’s publications from the latter half of last year that a transition from shrinkwrap to paper wrap is in the works and planned to debut with the upcoming spring collection (please correct if I’m mistaken). I’m wondering if anyone else that recently purchased How to See Fairies received it in a layer of white paper wrap — perhaps the first to undergo new packaging?

I'd forgotten this. I had a delivery a couple of years ago that sat outside my house in heavy rain for a whole afternoon (it was "hidden behind my dustbin", apparently - only if you're walking up the road Mr Delivery man. It was in plain sight for anyone walking down it. Sorry, a bit off topic.) Everything was shrink-wrapped and it all survived unscathed. That wouldn't be the case with paper.

Definitely sounds like a great idea - we need to stop harming the planet just for our convenience.

>4 AmsterdamTaff: Absolutely. The less plastic the better. The Folio Society should be commended for this.

I recently ordered The Celts and received it in its new wrapper - it almost feels like a mix between paper and wax paper - it feels less protected than the shrink wrap but that really isn’t the case since shrink wrap doesn’t protect from dings, etc., anyways. So it didn’t appear to me to be a downgrade or anything - just looks different. The only real effect if I can see is the secondary market when books are marketed as “new and in original shrink wrap.”

My copy of Love is Enough came similarly wrapped in off-white slightly waxy paper. I’d have expected it in the brown paper that 99% of the LEs arrive in.
