Hello! BookRiot has a Read Harder Challenge to read a book set in the Midwest. I would like to check off this challenge and tick a book read off the 1001 list. So, are there any applicable books?

You'll want to double check this, but here is a list of books that have been tagged with both "1001" & "midwest":

Main Street is definitely set in Minnesota and Home in Iowa.
I believe The Great Gatsby is mostly in NY and Sister Carrie starts in Chicago, but is mostly in NY.
My Antonia is set in Nebraska and Love Medicine in some combination of MN/the Dakotas.
The Things They Carried is mostly set in Vietnam and All the Pretty Horses is mostly in Texas.

And so on.

Actually, The Things They Carried is set in the midwest (Minnesota). Flashbacks are set in Vietnam. 3 chapters are all contained within Minnesota and at the Canadian border.

In Cold Blood is set in Kansas.

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is set in Missouri. (or various places on the Mississippi River)

The Color Purple rotates between the South and Cincinnati, Ohio

Babbit is set in the midwestern city of Zenith.

Main Street is set in Marceline, Missouri

The Jungle by Upton Sinclair is set in Chicago.
