January 2021 Group Challenge

Well, the year that was 2020 is almost over - time to start making those New Year's resolutions so we can start breaking them!

Let's read a book that you planned to read in 2020 or that has been in your bedside table reading pile or virtual TBR for a while.

I have already overbooked myself for January so I have decided to read A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift as it is a scant 26 pages long.

In 2020 I wanted to coincide my 1000th book with the completion of my alphabetical by author project. However I miscounted by books and as a result I had to skip a few books by authors late in the alphabet. I’ll pick one of these - maybe We by Yevgeny Zamyatin.

I plan to finish A Suitable Boy. Amazing book but I just couldn't find the time to give it the attention it deserves in 2020.

>4 Yells: I noticed that this will be released in audiobook form in early Feb. I'll give it a go then.

My 2020 goals included a list of 15 list books that had been on my TBR stack the longest. I managed to read 8 of them - not too bad. I'll go for another for the January challenge. Maybe Joseph Andrews or The Power and the Glory.

I think that the book that has been on my shelf the longest is The Princess of Cleves so that will be my January challenge read.

I've been dipping in and out of Foucault's pendulum all year. So I'll make it my January read.

Well I had planned to read Martin Chuzzlewit in December but didn't have the time and since it is now the January Group Read I'd better do it in January and get both this challenge and the Group Read in one go.

I read Nightwood by Djuna Barnes

I read We and was happy to have not waited until "Z" authors appeared on my alphabetical reading cycle again.

Glad the challenge gave me a push to finish Foucault's Pendulum. A dense but interesting read.

Finally read In Watermelon Sugar, which I had down to read for the November Grup Challenge for book I have never heard of. Interesting!
