Christmas/winter holiday fantasy?

Hi!

As christmas comes closer, I would like to read some nice christmassy/winter holiday books. I usually read fantasy, but I'm willing to give other genres a try. I don't like horror or (overly) romantic stories.

Thanks!

There's an LT list that ranges across genres: http://www.librarything.com/list/417/all/Christmas-Books

Came here to suggest Hogfather, but I see the OP has rated it one star, so I got nothin'.

>4 Marissa_Doyle: Thank you for reminding me--it's about time for a Hogfather reread.

>1 Ennas: Connie Willis has a new collection of Christmas-themed short stories, A Lot Like Christmas, that includes the stories from her previous Christmas anthology as well as some new material.

Winter Solstice by Rosamunde Pilcher might be considered a "cozy" read especially if you like anything British. An older actress settles into winter in Scotland and old and new friends cross her path or end up finding shelter with her.

I read two of the Lady Osbaldestone Christmas stories last year and I’m delighted to see there are two more. There is romance, but the main event is the Lady and her friends and family.

Have you read any of The Young Wizard series? There is a Christmas novella where alien friends are invited to come share the holiday, How Lovely Are Thy Branches.

The Sleeper and the Spindle is a twist on the classic fairy tales that get an outing at this time of year. Not overtly Christmassy, but it was a perfectly timed read for me last year.

I just read Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik, fantasy with a definite winter theme! I really enjoyed it!
