This month's topic is freewheeling and fun! Now it is your opportunity to "catch up" on GeoCAT months you missed, shrink your TBR pile, or just choose your own selection. You might want to read a book set in a country/city/region that you love, re-read a favorite, or strike out in a new direction altogether. The choice is yours!
Don't forget to update the wiki!

I will be reading The Mischief of the Mistletoe by Lauren Willig, which is part of the Pink Carnation series. It is set in England at Christmas time.

At the moment I'm thinking of a book that didn't really fit any of our categories, The Roman Empire and the Indian Ocean by Raoul McLaughlin

I think I'll probably read a book from Europe, as I want to finish 2 series that are set in England and France.

I'm probably going to read The Badass Librarians of Timbuktu for this month - I'd hoped to read it earlier this year for one of the 75 group Non-Fiction Challenge categories (Books about books) but didn't quite manage to get round to it then. I'm glad for the opportunity to catch up!

I love reading books with an Australian setting so I have chosen Only Killers and Thieves by Paul Howarth.

I ended up reading An Irish Country Christmas by Alice Taylor. The evocations of Ireland at Christmas time presented a charming view of life in the countryside, which is probably a nostalgic portrait, as I imagine the life was difficult on the authors' small farm. I have read this book in the past, and I enjoyed this reading just as much as I did the previous times.

I have read 2 books for this month's catch up:
A Zoo in My Luggage by Gerald Durrell - Cameroon, Africa
On Two Feet and Wings by Abbas Kazerooni - Iran & Turkey, Middle East
Somewhat surprisingly for me, these books are both nonfiction.

I read The Death of Ivan Illyich by Tolstoy.

I read In Order to Live a powerful memoir of a young girl and her mother who escaped North Korea. Countries explored were North Korea, China, Mongolia, South Korea.

>12 beebeereads: That sounds amazing. I’m definitely adding it to my wishlist.

I finished The Bad-Ass Librarians of Timbuktu, a true story that reads like a heist movie.

I chose to read about Australia this month and Only Killers and Thieves by Paul Howarth was an excellent read that took a hard look at the genocide of indigeneous people that was carried out in the late 1800s.
