Wow, nearly to the end of 2020! A memorable year indeed!

For this month's challenge, let's browse through the 1001 list and choose a book you have never heard of before.

Alternatively, as I know this may be difficult for those near the end of their reading as they have probably already looked over the books they have remaining, choose a book that you know you had never heard of before seeing it on the list.

A recent review of The Commandant by Jessica Anderson caught my eye on puckers' thread. I had never heard of the book or author or noticed on the list before. So I will try to get to that in November.

I had never heard of author Henry Green before I started reading from the list and he has three books on it. I will be reading Living by Henry Green for this challenge.

>3 DeltaQueen50: Funnily, I was going to choose a book called Green Henry by Gottfried Keller. I found a PDF copy online, but I don't think I want to read a 700 page novel online! I will have to see what my library has.

>4 JayneCM: I totally agree - 700 pages online would be too much! I have never heard of Green Henry before either - another one to look into at some point.

After flicking through my 1001 book and checking with what books my library had, I have found one! I will be reading In Watermelon Sugar by Richard Brautigan. A double as I had never heard of the book or the author.

There are certainly plenty of authors I’d never heard of before starting the 1001 list. I’ve just acquired Jurek Becker’s Jakob the Liar so will mark that down for the November challenge.

As puckers said, so many new authors for me too. I will go for Three trapped tigers - not a wrier I knew before - Guillermo Cabrera Infante.

I have completed my read of Living by Henry Green and I am glad that I picked this one up and I am happy that he has two more on the list.

I read Jacob the Liar. Well worth reading, and another book I would never have picked up but for the list.
