I'm entering a bunch of books by women authors originally published under a male pseudonym. These were released by Baileys.com earlier this summer under their real names.
I've just logged Attila, My Attila! and need to combine Edith Cooper & Katherine Bradley into Michael Field 8... I combined the work but I am really not sure about combining the authors given the dual authorship and split name.
Can anyone help out here? I get the feeling logging these reissued works may not be very straightforward.

As I understand it, you aren't supposed to combine pseudonyms names which don't apply to all authors into split authors. If there's an author page for both authors together, rather than just a separate one for each of them, you could alias the appropriate Michael Field into that page.

>2 amanda4242: There doesn't appear to be. To complicate matters, when I do a site search for Edith Cooper Katherine Bradley, I get works linked to Michael Field 4, so I suspect the Michael Field disambiguation page needs checking over.
Yup, the other work by Michael Field (8) is nothing to do with the play. So the correct Michael Field appears to be Michael Field (4).

>3 Maddz:
How did your work get assigned to Michael Field (8)? It looks as though all the works under MF (4) are by Cooper & Bradley.
And see the disambiguation notice: "#4 Michael Field, joint pseudonym of Katherine Harris Bradley (1846 - 1914) and her niece and ward Edith Emma Cooper (1862 - 1913); A selection from the poems of Michael Field."
So your work needs to be re-assigned to #4

This is going to be a tricky one.
Looking at the Michael Field disambiguation page, it appears #4 and #8 refer to the same people, so the work assigned to #8 should be reassigned to #4.
I've confirmed both Cooper and Bradley as authors on Attila, My Attila!, but both of those authors are also split! I think the best we can do is make sure the work is assigned to the correct splits and add links to the various splits in disambiguation notices and the biography sections.

To be honest, checking the single author pages for Edith Cooper and Katherine Bradley also reveals something of a mess.
Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Field_(author) seems to have a good list of works by the duo.

Looking at the disambiguation page, some of the works assigned to Michael Field 4 look suspiciously like multi-author anthologies containing some work by them.

Checking the Katherine Bradley page, I would say that Michael Field the Poet is not by Katherine Bradley. It's about him (them?), and the authors should be the 2 editors that can be seen on the cover.
What a can of worms...

I can't provide much help assigning works, but I've added links between all the various author pages in disambiguation notices and bios.

It should have the editors listed, as well as Michael Field--and both Cooper and Bradley if you want to be *really* thorough.
