Library Franklin or Upside Down printings?

Forgive me if this is a duplicate question.. I've tried to search first but could not find a topic that answered my question.

I've recently started collecting the Franklin Library The 100 Greatest Books of All Time books.. mostly doing this through eBay, not sure how anyone else does this.. however; I bought one of my first books and it's in great shape with a tight binding a flawless cover, it's a copy of Geoffrey Chaucer Canterbury Tales.

Upon inspecting the book I've come to find that the cover was added to the book upside down in comparison to how the book should open. If I were to hold the book the way you would think to open it, you would be looking at the back of the book first. You have the turn the book 180 degrees and then flip it over to start reading from the front.. I have other FL books and this is the only one that exhibits this. I was unable to find any evidence the book was repaired or reworked in anyway.

I was curious if this was a common thing among FL books? Does anyone know if this increases/decreases the value?

Thank you,

Lector

I haven’t seen any Franklins bound in this manner, but I have a couple of early Folio Society books that were. Personally, I consider it a defect but not a serious one. I wouldn’t expect it to increase the value and it might decrease it a little, but others might have a different opinion.

I was caught off-guard when I noticed it but in the end it doesn't make much difference in the ownership of the book I imagine. I was more curious if this was common among Franklin Library books and something to be on the look out for when hunting them down.. Thanks for your response.
