Any thoughts on the psychic? What did she mean when she said ‘‘Look closer, Inspector, someone—’?

I don't believe in psychics and neither does Kim. Yet, when she told Kim that "he" knows she couldn't save him and it was ok, that referred to Kim and her brother Mikey and what they went through. How could she know that? It makes it sound like the psychic really does have a special power. Not sure who the psychic was referring to when she said look closer.

I don't believe in psychics either. In this case, I think she was going to say something along the lines of it being someone close to the situation - a family friend, relative, someone known. I also hope Kim doesn't discount this completely out of hand because of it being a psychic and remembers the blue door and the number 297 (I think?).

I also think that the psychic was speaking of Mikey when she told Kim that he loved her and knew that she couldn't save him. That makes it seem that she may be somewhat credible.

Physics speak in terms that seem to say that they "know something" that only you would know...but when you stop and think about it...there is a wealth of subjects that can be construed in ways to seem that it is coming from "the great beyond" or wherever and will mean something to someone. I think Kim will take any information that anyone...psychic or otherwise...gives her and analyse it to death before deciding if it's useful or not. I'm not disclaiming to believe or not believe. As William Shakespeare said in his "Hamlet" to suggest that human knowledge is greatly limited... "There are more things in heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy". Physics and ghost are useful in making interesting...excitingly...and wonderfully scary books. "My name is Carol and I am a"Ghost Story Junkie":)

I thought the psychic was referring to someone involved in the investigation as the "look closer". I also thought she was talking about Mikey when she was referring to forgiveness.

I personally don't believe in psychics but they make good characters in books.

I keep getting the feeling that Helen is involved. That's the person who comes to my mind when she says look closer and also the fact that she didn't give Kim all the information about the third message. Maybe I am the psychic! lol

The psychic threw a few more interesting snippets into the mix: blue gate; 278; he's not done yet ("With the last one." - What does this mean? Intriguing...).

I’m not a believer in RL...but fictional psychics...maybe. Lol. This one seems credible. Kim should keep her info in the back of her mind. Good call about Helen. She didn’t occur to me when thinking about the look closer comment, but I think you are right

She seems to know things. She might be legitimate in the fictional world. I don't know what she meant by look closer.
