Shipwrecked young male. Finds young female who natives want to impregnate as she is young and fertile. Also weird light

Male character, young teen shipwrecks on an island
As he travels inland he sees a girl being chased by tribesman, they try to rape her and I honestly cant remember if they succeed

They meet up later in his hiding cave and he befriends her somewhat

It turns out the villagers want to rape her because she is the only female still fertile enough to bare children

The two of them end up going to some place where they essentially kill alot of them and sleep together among the corpses

Also there is a section where he talks to what im presuming is god, some being of light that the natives are scared of

It ends with him and her looking to find his parents which it turns out ended up somewhere else

The cover is dark blue and i think there was stars

I would love some help here as I read it when I was half my current age and probably could not enjoy the adult themes properly :P

I am starting to think this book must have been published by a local author 60 years ago and will never be seen again, my hopelessness is increasing by the day XD!

Am I holding out hope for too long at this point?

Goodness, no. Sometimes it takes months. Over at Goodreads there was one recently solved after 11 years. Just bump the thread back to the first page every so often and chances are it will get solved.

I agree with >6 Bargle5: ! Just keep bumping the thread periodically, and someone new may see it.

Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe?

Ott 28, 2020, 5:55 am

>19 Kevini001: I do appreciate your attempts. While Robinson Crusoe is amusingly similar in some places, it is not what I seek. As for the island series, there was only 1 protagonist, not 6. At this time I am considering seeing if that library still has me and the book I read 10 years ago in some form of database XD!

Well, Now I want to read this book also. You know there is a chance of that. My high school library still knows what books I took out.. 20 years ago!

You don't really give a time frame of when you read this. Also, did it feel like a new book or something that had been published for some time (if so, how long do you think it had been published). Are there any distinguishing phrases or other stand out elements you can remember?

>22 lesmel: These are great questions! thank you for giving me a good place to expand from. I read this book in 2008-2012, it was in the young adult section of my library, but I had the feeling after reading it, it was not meant to be there (rape and murder being rather heavy topics). The book seemed like it had been handles quite a few times, so I would guess it was rather old, though the vocabulary puts it as not to extremely old. I would not say any earlier than 1940's. The most distinguishing moment for me, aside from the religious element, which I unfortunately skimmed at the time, was what was described as a blood bath. The two main characters set about killing all of the natives in their main building, and then the implication is that they had sex there in the building amongst the bodies. This building, I believe, was some form of religious place, like a cathedral for the natives.

Link to a review that led me to that conclusion: https://www.librarything.com/work/27232/reviews/7677311 .
It probably is a Joseph Conrad book, cause that seems just like something he would come up with.

The Coral Island has some of these elements? It's from the 1800s... could be a thought that sparks someone else if this isn't it.
Kurt Vonnegut's Galapagos came to mind as well for some of the infertility themes.

>43 CWReader: Though many of the story beats hit eerily close, incredibly so! The start is unfortunately different, having looked at a sample of the first few pages it unfortunately starts differently. The first chapter started with the male character still on a boat, monologuing or something of the sort.
