Dead language editions

Can we please get a work to work relationship something like "X is is a dead language version of Y". It would help in making combinations between these things more difficult

(Earlier today Homer's Iliad and Odyssey in ancient Greek was combined with modern translations - same story, sure, different demographic)

I thought there was a Disambiguation notice on those things? But that might not have stopped the person.

There's a distinct comment on the book combination page, not sure about the disambiguation.

BTW - I think a dead language version work relationship is an excellent idea!

Until there's a better one, the modern language work could be listed as an adapation of the dead language work, with details in the disambiguation notice of course. (Or the other way around, for modern works in dead languages such as Harrius Potter et Philosophi Lapis - which has already been done).

Good idea. I remember making this mistake when I was new. It just never occurred to me.

>8 krazy4katz: I understand how such mistakes can happen. That's why it would be good to make it slightly more difficult to do.

Yes, please! If dead language editions are to be kept separate from modern editions, then there should be an appropriate work relationship to reflect this.

(Still doesn't solve the question of where bilingual editions are to be put, unfortunately...)

I, too, am in favour of a work relationship of the type "is a dead language version of" if that helps prevent miscombinations such as >2 Nicole_VanK:.

Put me down as supporting.
