Poisonous mysteries

I was recently reminded of the wonderful short story, Case of the Kind Waitress by Henry Slesar, available in Alfred Hitchcock: The Best Of Mystery, among other places. I am interested in finding other mysteries involving poison. Ideally, these would be short stories, unless the poison plotline is featured prominently throughout the book. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Although it is a novel rather than a short story, I would highly recommend Strong Poison, by Dorothy L. Sayers.

>1 ms529212: My Mom loved cozy mysteries and being from Ireland she really liked this one. I will admit that I have not read it but she loved it. The title says it's fits your requested topic category...and it is book #1 in the series.

Dial P For Poison - Zara Keane
Movie Club Mysteries series Book #1
An Irish Cozy Mystery

“My career in the San Francisco PD ended the day I arrested my husband.” Maggie Doyle gives her cheating ex and crumbling career in the San Francisco PD the proverbial middle finger, and moves to the Wild West…of Ireland. Lured by her aunt’s promise of a restful Irish vacation, Maggie agrees to help out at the Movie Theater Café in exchange for bed and board. Things are looking up—until the most hated woman on Whisper Island is poisoned at the café. With her aunt as the prime suspect, Maggie and her rock-hard muffins are hurled into the murder investigation. With the help of her UFO-enthusiast friend, a nun, and a feral puppy, Maggie is determined to clear her aunt’s name. Can she catch the murderer before they strike again? Or will her terrible baking skills burn down the cafe first?

My neighbor...who reads nothing else BUT mysteries... suggest Five Little Pigs by Agatha Christie. He says Agatha used hemlock as the means to dispatch the victim. He says that Christie favored poisons in several of her books.

Yes, I'd heard that about Christie, but was reluctant to start sifting through dozens of titles. Thanks for the new suggestion! I'm slowly going through my Alfred Hitchcock short stories, and I've already found another gem in the same collection: A Flower in Her Hair by Pauline C. Smith. I used to devour these books, but the duties of life steal so much free time. I'd like to rewind about 35 years when I had nothing to do over the summer but read...
