The Junior Classics

This is a post for updates on the status of the Junior Classics. At present, the status is: IN EDITORIAL.

This means we are sorting out the stories and selecting the interior artwork, as well as designing the base images for the cover layouts. We are still at least one month before we will be IN DEVELOPMENT, which means we are actually laying out the interiors and exteriors.

It is hard to practice patience while waiting for these. That said Thank you Castalia for your wonderful projects!

Is there any chance of an upgrade subscription? I would have loved to be able to go for the leather but had to "settle" for hard cover.

Thank you. Yes, would be interested in option path options if available as I currently have the standard hard cover on order.

Since I missed the campaign on Indiegogo - is there any way to get on the ordering list for the hard cover set? Thanks!

When we're ready to start going into production, we'll take orders. There is no need to do so now.

Are there any updates on the Leather bound Junior Classics?

Vox posted that they hope to get ebook and hard cover out by end of year. Sounds like supply chains are making paper and leather tricky to obtain.

Hi, I'm a backer of the hardcover editions. I know Vox has mentioned potentially offering an upgrade to the leather bound editions, but I'm undecided on doing that yet. Will the standard hardcovers be clothbound and have sewn bindings? Will that be similar to what Castalia House normally produces for hardcovers? I have Alt*Hero Volume 1 & A Throne of Bones as my examples for those. Those have glued bindings with glossy paper in lieu of a dust jacket. Thanks.

The standard hardcovers will be case laminate and glued, like all our other hardcovers.

I am so looking forward to these. I'll probably buy four sets for families (who are on the edge of opting for home schooling) and a leather set for myself.

I purchased with longevity in mind but couldn't put out the amount for the whole leather set at the time but wanted to support the project and make sure it made it. Glue will inevitably fail :( Is there any progress on allowing a subscription/monthly payment based option to upgrade to leather? Would Castalia be willing to ship my hardcover set to someone else and credit me somehow towards the leathers? (I know that sounds like a pain but purchasing the hard covers and then selling especially shipping is difficult where I am). Thanks for your consideration and effort

We will provide an option to upgrade to the leather for those who wish at the same time we confirm everyone's addresses prior to shipping the first three hardcovers.

>14 CastaliaLibrary: FANTASTIC! I am VERY grateful. I have a couple of the 1918 originals and they don't compare to the quality of the Library series. Thank you again! I consider buying these books like planting trees I won't see the shade of...except I still get to enjoy the shade! :). I am going to keep my 10 year old PC limping along to fund these instead of building a new one; an easy choice!

Address Confirmation came out via Indiegogo. I provided address plus indicated interest in upgrading to leather, do I need to do anything else?

No. We've shipped ~950 of the 1300 sets before Christmas. The rest will ship after. NONE of the demis have been shipped yet, we still have to prepare the resized volumes.

I'm pleased to say my first three books of the Junior Classics have arrived. They are very high quality. What I am not pleased about was the packaging in which they were shipped. Myths and Legends has corners smashed because of the complete lack of packaging. Some of the corners on all of the books look worn where they were loosely rubbing against the cardboard during shipment.

All of my Castalia Library books have arrived in good condition and were well packaged. Please take better care in shipping the next batches of Junior Classics books.

Junior Classics arrived today. They are beautiful - thank you for the work that went into this project. I am looking forward to the rest of the set. These are to be a gift and it will be hard to let them go! The extra space in the box was filled with butcher paper, so the books did not shift around.

Has anyone else yet to receive copies? Or should I start to be concerned?

>21 TheElstoNs: I ordered 2 copies (in HARDCOVER) a day apart (both in Royal Octavo). I received Vol. 1-3 for the first order on Dec. 15th. As of today (Jan. 20th) 36 days later, I have NOT yet received the 2nd order and am also concerned. (I have 4 orders, 2 Hardcover, 1 Leather, 1 extra Digital, and on Nov. 15, I did the comment on each of those orders providing my mailing address. I duplicated the process Nov. 27th again providing mailing address but also adding my email address since I should be getting a Digital edition for each order). Haven't received emails for any of the Digital editions yet.

I don't think any of the digital, leather, or demi octavo hard covers are ready. Thus far I think almost everyone should have received the first 3 hardcovers of the larger size

>23 benjitsu: I'm still waiting for my 2nd HARDCOVER order Volumes 1-3 in Royal Octavo. Its been 41 days since I received Vol. 1-3 on my first of two orders. Not sure what the hold up is. (Also not sure who to contact. Sent email a couple weeks ago to Castalia Library (probably not the correct place to send it), then a couple days ago added yet another "address" comment on Indiegogo for that 2nd order.

I read from Vol 2, Sigfried and Brunhilda for my homeschool reading lesson today. So much fun- these treasures were well worth the wait and investment.
