Why is the publisher listed under authors?

I have noticed that many books list the publisher under the Other authors section like this:

Why is this? Is not the separate field Publication enough?

I do that when the publisher is the only identifiable entity behind a publication. That doesn't seem to be the case here though.

That looks like Amazon data - this is what they list in their author fields for audiobooks.

I've seen it from library sources, too. I just delete it.

It’s probably because of the copyright hold. I think it’s junk and I delete it too.

The data you enter (either manually or from a source) is your data, and does not come from LT. Depending on the source it may be very good, or it may be total garbage. Older Amazon data is often total garbage.

You are free to change your data to suit your needs, bearing in mind that some data does affect other members.

>6 MarthaJeanne: speaking of which: which data affects other members? only combination and CK, or other? (I understand that adding a cover for a book affects them in a sense, since they can use that cover, but this is different)

>7 .mau.: Reviews most of all. It is aggravating if you see that there are reviews, but they are all not really reviews.

Title and author can be affected if several people use a bad Amazon entry. We do have ways to fix that. (Other author only if it is confirmed on the work page, and the others can change that.)

LoC and Dewey could affect others, but don't usually.

>8 MarthaJeanne: I'll add "Language setting for review" to that. (Having gone through some reviews in Czech that were marked as Englist. I might drop the person a message. Especially since we seem to have some of the same books :-)
I think some of those reviews are probably not reviews, but I'm not sure how good Google Translate is with short sentences, so ...
