A friend of mine has the complete Library of America set (including non-series publications). About half of them are sealed, and all of the unwrapped ones are like new. He wants to get rid of them, as he's elderly and doesn't want to leave them to his eventual widow. Is there interest in buying the complete set, or is it better to sell them individually or in smaller lots?

Thanks!

I’m afraid it will be difficult to sell LOAs on the secondary market for a good price, because they are all still in print. Amazon sells most of them in the $20-30 range.

And I believe LOA also offers the option of purchasing the entire set, so your friend would have to consider that as a price comparator.

I also understand the set option is directed to institutions and libraries, which suggests your friend might consider donating it to a local organization and claiming the charitable donation credit, rather than attempting to sell it piecemeal or outright.
