CassieBash's Critter's--Winter 2019-2020

OK, it's a bit of a cheat, but they are frogs I saw this winter, even if it was in a pet store:

I personally wouldn't want to keep a poison dart frog as a pet myself, but they are pretty. These are bumblebee poison dart frogs, probably for obvious reasons.

I did debate about whether to start another thread or not, as there were only 39 posts on the fall one, but I've been very picture heavy and that slows load time for some, so I figure it's as good a time as any to start fresh. My old thread is here, for any interested in pictures of animals and plants.

>1 CassieBash: thanks! I'm on DSL and often your threads load slowly.

Merry Christmas.

During the warm period that happened just before the cold snap (which has been followed by another warm-up), I saw an oil beetle, Meloe impressus according to the iNaturalist community. (I was sure of the oil beetle family, so I had the Meloe part, but all the species look alike to me.) He seemed undeterred by 40 degree temps as he crossed the driveway into the yard. I snapped several pics before leaving him to go his merry way.

>4 CassieBash: nice!

We had a warmup, too. I got bitten by something on my ankle, itched for a bit. 🙄

Haven't posted for a month, but there hasn't been much of visual interest, until yesterday. Mom said she counted at least 35 turkeys under the bird feeders in the back yard; while they were long gone by the time I got home, I did see evidence of their being there:

I even put my hand lightly just on top of the snow beside the print to give you an idea of how big turkey feet are.

>7 fuzzi: Yep, they are big birds--though keep in mind I have small hands. ;)

Just trying to keep this post active though I’m not sure why, since I should create a spring page now. I’ll have to do that the next time I have a chance to post pictures. I ha e some of a Polyphemus moth that I had emerge, some fish and frog pictures, and a wide variety of birds, including orioles and grosbeaks. I just need to have a good computer with-do session to upload to Flickr and then to embed in an LT page. It’s coming. I promise.
