End of the year meme

I don't know about the rest of you, but I LOVE the annual memes people post on their threads. I'd like to see them all in one place so everyone can find them easily and see the answers from people they don't generally "follow" on LT. I didn't see a thread about it, so I figured I'd start one here.

For anyone who doesn't know about the meme, you basically answer a few questions using only the titles of books you have read in the past year. Sometimes it's a struggle or a stretch, but sometimes it works out perfect. Case in point, one of my answers last year: Your favorite form of transportation: The Library Book. :D

Describe where you currently live: The Commonsense Book of a Country Woman No touchstone for this book, but it is by Hannah Hauxwell. I was so amazed by this lady when I saw a documentary on her from the 70s. Look her up - she is a down to earth inspiration!

If you could go anywhere, where would you go: Where The Forest Meets The Stars or Braving The Wilderness - you get the idea! I love mountains, forests, lakes.

I think we should do a half-year meme or maybe a fiscal year meme in June/July. Mine always end up being darker than I intended, even when I try to do them when I'm in a good mood. It doesn't help that I read a lot of urban fantasy - with vampires and werewolves, everything is either Dark, Night, Blood, or Death. LOL. There's only one more book I'm likely to finish this year, so I'm going to go ahead and post my meme now.

Three or more stars is a recommendation, for the right reader. My reviews are a better guide to the quality of the book, though.

I did like Spinster and would recommend it if you are interested in the subject matter. So the three stars reflects its narrower focus.

I doubt that finishing my current read, Platform Seven, would make any of these answers any more amusing, so let's go for it. None of which should be taken too seriously!

I'm really enjoying everyone's answers and marveling we don't have more duplication. I waited to read the majority of the memes until I had decided my own because I didn't want to be influenced by other answers. I see some books in more than one category, which is pretty normal for these. It's always interesting to see what we find to fit. I had some great runner-ups, but I didn't post those this year.

I had two I could use for food, Rabbit Cake (not that I want to eat one!) or The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake. Or just go with wine - Dandelion Wine or Thirty Thousand Bottles of Wine and a Pig Called Helga.

Food would have to be The Lemon Table on the grounds that my other foodie sounding titlres are a bit icky or insibstantial. The Scent of Almonds for instance, would not be too sustaining.
