Hello Spam-Fighters,

I consider it as spam to publish job offers.

https://www.librarything.com/author/bundesamtfrverfassun&all=1

examples:

translated to english:
Special trainers (m, f, x): we are looking to strengthen our teams ... 1 copy
Computer Scientists - Computer Network Exploitation: looking for the ... 1 copy
Computer scientists as application developers JAVA / JEE: are we looking for ... 1 copy
Specialists (m, f, x) in the field: we are looking for reinforcement ... 1 copy
Specialists (m, f, x) for counterintelligence: are we looking for ... 1 copy

If I understand correctly, these entries are all from the same member.
It is possible to remove everything automatically with the phrase "(m, w, d)"?

The title "Hierzu zählt neben der CeBIT (16. - 20.03.) auch die HANNOVER-Messe (13.…"
of work 22457169 doesn't make any sense: it is the fraction of a German sentense, translated to English:
"In addition to the CeBIT (16. - 20.03.), This also includes the HANNOVER fair (13th - 20th ..."

Thanks.

How it is possible to flag a whole "book" as spam — not just its book cover?

I consider it as spam to publish job offers.

And you are right.

It is possible to remove everything automatically with the phrase "(m, w, d)"

I'm afraid not.

How it is possible to flag a whole "book" as spam

If you go to the work page and click on "editions", you'll see the option to flag the work.

Done.
I marked everything that looks like job offer or press release/press article.

Maybe it's up to me, but so far I assumed that librarything is for books. If I look at the profile of Aficionado: almost everything press article / press releases
https://www.librarything.com/profile/Aficionado

Is that permissible — or am I too… petty?

Articles are allowed, provided they aren't specific advertising to drive people elsewhere.

Not sure about Press Releases, I'd have to have someone else make that call.

Honestly, LT can house many things, beyond just books. We have clothing, perfume, and a few other odds and ends.

Thanks for the clarification. I did not know that.

btt:
than are
- keynotes (assemblies / talks)
- speeches
- standing orders
- intelligence reports
allowed?

How should they be reformatted so that they do not look spammy, especially if things do not have an official title.
In some cases, the entire press release was within the title field. That was why I flagged them too.

>7 xuprtn: Anything that is *real* is allowed. Things that are not allowed are if I were to add a book titled "mywebsite.com" or "Best Taxi in the World by 1-800-TAXI"

>5 xuprtn: Now you need to go back and place your vote for each of those spam works.

I guess using Librarything as a repository of documents is fine, if it works for you. There's something else going on with Aficionado, though: they have submitted over 500 reviews, but the "reviews" seem to be either blurbs about the work copied from websites listing the work, or entire reviews copied in from other online sources. Example - a review for Das Lächeln der Alligatoren : Roman is entirely copied from https://www.zeit.de/2015/09/michael-wildenhain-das-laecheln-der-alligatoren. Should something be done about that?

I don't think the documents, even the job offers are spam.

Many of the 'reviews' do not qualify as member reviews. If they are non review information they can be given a blue flag. If they are copied from another source they can be given a red flag. If enough red flags are given the review will be hidden.

Thanks for all your replies! I learn from it and will do better in the future.

The copright problem, mentioned by acousticmoose, is more problematic the larger the publishers are. DIE ZEIT is a part of Holtzbrinck, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holtzbrinck_Publishing_Group

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Gutenberg:
Geoblocking against users in Germany

As of 28 February 2018, Project Gutenberg is no longer accessible within Germany to comply with a court order from S. Fischer Verlag regarding the works of Heinrich Mann, Thomas Mann and Alfred Döblin. Although they were public domain in the United States, the court recognized the infringement of copyrights still active in Germany, and asserted that the Project Gutenberg website was under German jurisdiction because it hosts content in the German language.26

I can access Gutenberg from Austria (for which I am very grateful.
