After scanning in a hundred or so books and then reading as many posts in Talk, I realized that Amazon wasn't the greatest source to use and deleted everything. I started over using Library of Congress as my source. After getting a batch of books entered, I am finding that some are added with author in the correct order of Last, First and others are added as First, Last and some as First, Middle, Last. I found where I can edit my problem ones, but there are quite a few. Is there a reason that some come through incorrect or is that just a function of the way LoC might have them inconsistently set up? I am using the app to add barcoded books and the computer to add older non-isbn books. I also wondered if it could be app vs computer, but haven't tested that theory.

Do you have examples where the authors are in the wrong order?

There are lots, but my Redwall books got added as author Brian, Jacques as one example. Louisa May Alcott was very mixed up with the three names but I have since fixed those ones.

I entered another batch today and it does appear that books added via the computer are added with author in the proper last, first format and books added via the app are added backwards as First, Last. Library of Congress as source for all.

Is it possible that the app uses Bowker Books in Print as its source. I've noticed when using that source on the Add Books page on my laptop that it returns authors names switched.

There is a bug report for this. It should be used instead of this thread. https://www.librarything.com/topic/305733
